CAT 2012 Notification and Exam Dates, Online Common Admission Test (CAT) 2012 Application
CAT 2012 ELIGIBILITY
Eligibility: The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of the candidates belonging to SC/ST/DA (it may also referred to as Persons with Disability (PwD) category)), awarded by any of the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions estd by an act of parliament or declared to be deemed as a university u/s 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the MHRD, Govt of IndiaThe percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the bachelor’s degree would be calculated based on the practice followed by the university/institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree
In case the candidates are awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the conversion of grades/CGPA to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure certified by the university/ institution from where they have obtained the bachelor’s degree
In case the university/institution does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result with 100
Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply
How and when to apply :
The number of testing days this year has been increased to 21 days within the window from 11th October, 2012 to 06th November, 2012Registration window will be open from 30th July, 2012 to 19th September, 2012
CAT 2012 Exam Pattern
Similar to the previous year, the CAT-2012 will have only two sectionsThe first section will focus on Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation; the second on Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning
These two sections will be implemented sequentially with separate time limits
The examination will be for 140 minutes
Candidates will have 70 minutes to answer 30 questions within each section which will have an on-screen countdown timer
Once the time ends for the first section, they will move to the second section and will no longer be able to go back
A 15 minute tutorial will be provided before the start of the test, and candidates are advised to go through that carefully before starting the main examination
The total duration will be two hours and 35 minutes including the tutorial
A practice test to provide candidates with a feel of the timed sections, as well as navigation and functionality of the actual test is available on the CAT website www.catiim.in
Candidates are advised to go though it carefully to familiarise themselves with the screens, layout, and navigation
If selected, such candidates will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if he/she submits a certificate latest by 30th June, 2013 from the Principal/Registrar of his/her College/Institute (issued on or before 30th June, 2013) stating that the candidate has completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate
IIMs may verify eligibility at various stages of the selection process, the details of which are provided at the website www.catiim.in
Applicants should note that the mere fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria will not ensure consideration for shortlisting by IIMs
Prospective candidates must maintain a valid and unique email account and a Tel number throughout the selection process
Reservations: As per the Govt of India requirements, 15% of the seats are reserved for SC and 7.5% for ST candidates, 27% of seats are reserved for OBC candidates belonging to the non-creamy layer (NC-OBC), 3% seats are reserved for Differently Abled (DA) candidates
CAT Result: CAT-2012 result will be announced on 09th January, 2013 on the CAT website
List of shortlisted candidates for the next level of selection will be made available on the individual IIM websites
Each IIM will send interview letters to the candidates it has short-listed
The criteria for short listing varies from IIM to IIM

CAT-2012 Vouchers: Before registering and scheduling for your test, you will need to purchase a CAT- 2012 voucher from any of the selected Axis Bank branches between 30th July, 2012, Monday, and 17th September, 2012, Monday
If the voucher is lost, voucher number is not readable due to mishandling of the voucher by candidate, and/or candidate thinks he/she has made mistakes in filling out information during the online registration, then the candidate can purchase a new voucher and re-register online

NMIMS Management Aptitude Test (NMAT)-2013

Admission for all the full time programmes mentioned above is through NMIMS Management Aptitude NMAT Test conducted by NMIMS
PGDM (Bangalore, Hyderabad campus): Full time bachelor’s degree (10+2+3/4) in any discipline from a UGC recognized University with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate in first attempt
The candidate must have completed graduation in the stipulated duration as per the respective University/Institution awarding the degree
Those candidates who have cleared their graduation by doing a part time course or through distance learning, correspondence courses, externally, open school are not eligible to apply
For all the full time programs candidates who are appearing for the final examination are eligible to apply (provisional admission subject to clearing the final examination in first attempt and in the stipulated duration as per the respective University/Institution awarding the degree with 50% aggregate marks) and also producing all the necessary documents, in original, within the given stipulated time
For all the full time programs candidates with two years and more years of post qualification work experience will be preferred
At the time of admission, the candidate should have cleared all the trimesters/semesters
Those candidates who have passed, or, have appeared for graduation examination from a University where Grade Point Average is given, such candidates must produce in writing from the University concerned about the equivalent percentage for the GPA/CGPA obtained
It is sole responsibility of the candidates to ascertain whether they possess the necessary and requisite qualification for the admission at NMIMS
If at any stage, it is found that a candidate does not satisfy the eligibility criteria or the information furnished by him/her in the online registration is incorrect, his/her application for the admission to the programme, even if selected, will stand cancelled
Candidates appearing for NMAT, group discussion and personal interview will do so at their own risk, eventually, forfeiting their admission for want of meeting the eligibility criteria
In such cases candidate will forfeit all the payments like NMAT registration charges, group discussion/ personal interview registration charges, program fee etc
NMIMS reserves the right to alter the terms of eligibility without intimation to the applicants

Entrance Test: The Ph.D entrance test will be held on 17th August, 2012,
09.00 a.m. to 01.00 p.m. at the Institute main building on the
Institute’s Campus at Mesra, Ranchi-835215 (except for those candidates

University of Cambridge (UK) is again the highest ranked university in the world, according to the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) ranking of the world's best universities 2011/12. This is the second year running that Cambridge University has taken the No. 1 spot. Harvard University maintained the second highest position in the world, followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology in third place (up two places from 5th in the 2010 ranking), and Yale University in fourth place (dropped a place from 3rd to 4th).
In Asia, the highest ranked institution is the University of Hong Kong (22nd globally), ahead of The University of Tokyo (25th globally), and National University of Singapore (NUS) (28th globally). Nanyang Technological University (NTU) has jumped up 16 places in 2011, ranked 58th in the world (a quantum leap from 74th place last year). This makes NTU one of the fastest-rising universities in the top 100 list.
